Any stage or theatrical production has some technical aspects which need to be operated by controllers. One of the most common of these is the theatrical rigging system or fly system, which refers to a system that enables a stage crew to fly components such as curtains, lights, scenery, stage effects, sound systems and even people. Lifting or lowering is performed by using controllers of a Hoist which can be manually, electrically or pneumatically driven. Some manufacturers offer hoists that do not have internal electrics or control for external control integration. This allows buyers or stage production venues to build the hoists into their own control system.
